Are all your courses accredited and nationally recognised?Geopace Training is the only UK based training provider to award you two qualifications: an Accredited and Nationally Recognised Certificate (from the Open College Network (OCN Credit4Learning) at Level 3 (Advanced Level) or Level 4 (Foundation Degree Level) as well as accreditation by The CPD Certification Service *. Our accredited courses will have been subjected to a number of stringent processes before being presented before a panel of experts for scrutiny, assessment and accreditation. When you book a Geopace Training accredited course you can be assured that the course has been properly and competently evaluated. When you book a course always ensure you are enrolling on a competently accredited course. Some training companies only issue a Certificate of Completion or Certificate of Attendance. These are usually issued directly from the provider, have no intrinsic value and are not nationally recognised. * Please note that our Route to Competency Masterclass awards you CPD Accreditation as well as a Geopace Certificate of Competency.

I have not been in education for quite some time. Is there a lot of coursework to do?No, not in any way! Our courses have been carefully developed to ensure that you enjoy learning. Our tutors are very experienced at making your learning process fun and enjoyable and are there to support and guide you throughout the course. There will be plenty of support material and handouts for you to use and take away at the end of the course. For most courses you will be practicing on artificial models (artificial arms, vein blocks, ECG models etc.) and many of these are interactive experiences.

I would like to book a package and complete all my training in the shortest period of time. Is this possible? Will I get a discount? Both our Phlebotomy Training Courses and Aesthetics Training Courses are available to book as complete packages, either in the classroom or virtual classroom. Please visit our website www.geopace.com and see package options under the "Courses" menu. Packages usually include multiple courses over 1 or 2 days and generally run from 9.30am until 8.30pm. You will have plenty of refreshment and comfort breaks as well as a lunch break and time to relax between courses. These long learning days pass very quickly and you will gain multiple qualifications in a very short period of time. Additionally, by booking a package, you benefit from an additional 20% off the total course fees. Classroom packages will always run in the same training location and in most cases the tutor will be the same for all courses. Virtual classroom (Zoom) packages will also, usually, have the same tutor for all courses.
-

Will I receive a recognised qualification? All Geopace Training courses are accredited with nationally recognised awarding bodies. Our awarding bodies are: The Open College Network (OCN Credit4Learning) and The CPD Certification Service. OPEN COLLEGE NETWORK (OCN Credit4Learning): OCN accredited Courses meet the Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) regulatory route and are UKAS (The United Kingdom Accreditation Service) approved through ISO to ensure management quality processes are maintained to the highest level throughout all aspects of our organisation. UKAS - British Assessment Bureau number 198810 Accreditation levels offered by Geopace Training are: LEVEL 3 - Advanced (This is equivalent to Level 5 in Ireland) LEVEL 4 - Foundation Degree - FDSc (This is equivalent to Level 6 in Ireland) THE CPD CERTIFICATION SERVICE: CPD accreditation is widely accepted within many industries and The CPD Certification Service offers NHS and other healthcare organisations continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities for all staff at every level. This then provides you not only with additional accreditation when completing our courses but is also acceptable by many employer's annual CPD requirements.

What are CPD points?Taking training courses to learn more about your work is important. It’s not just the act of undertaking that’s valuable, you need to have a record of your CPD as well. Depending on your job, you may be required to record your CPD points. This is a requirement for many professional bodies. Knowing that CPD points are important is one thing, knowing what they actually are is vital. The points that you earn are a clear way to demonstrate the time you’ve invested in your professional training. Your CPD points record: Online training that’s been completed. Classroom courses you’ve been to. Seminars and webinars that have been attended. Details of your training, including the points you accumulate, can be added to a portfolio. We’ll go through more on what your portfolio and CPD records can look like a little later. Do CPD points equate to hours? Different institutions will have slightly different language for your CPD points. You might hear or read them referred to as units or credits instead. Whichever words your employer or professional body might use, they mean the same thing. One CPD point is equal to one hour of active learning. That means you get one point for every hour you spend on CPD activity. To give you an example, say you attend a day’s training course about delivering first aid. The course runs from 10am to 5pm, plus an hour break for lunch. That training course would award you 9 CPD points. When you complete online CPD courses, you’re not going to have a timer running to determine the time you spend and the CPD points you’re awarded. CPD points are calculated based on a number of factors – the details of which are coming up shortly. How do I find the CPD points of a course? Every course that’s accredited for CPD will have a number of points assigned to it. It’s going to be important for you to know how many points you get, particularly when you have targets to meet. Each provider will work slightly differently, but in general you will be able to find the points earned per course with the course details. For whatever reason you can’t find the points for each course on the company website, get in touch with the provider. Doing face-to-face or classroom training? You will be awarded CPD points based on the active time spent learning, and this will be confirmed before you start. Don’t assume the number of points you’ll get; there might be more or less break time than you expect and after-class assignments may also be included. After you’ve completed your CPD training, you’ll be given a certificate to keep for your records. This document doesn’t show the number of points you’ve accumulated but there are other ways you can check: Find the course on the website and note down the points it is worth. Contact us and we can issue a letter confirming the points earned if needed. How are CPD points calculated? It’s pretty easy to measure the number of active learning hours when you attend a seminar or classroom course. Even webinars and watching an online presentation video are measurable in terms of time. How do you calculate CPD points for online courses? It’s a little trickier, because everyone completes the course at their own pace. When a course is being written, it will be created with a target length in mind. The length will be determined by things like: The level of the course – you’ll usually find that higher level courses have more points since they can have more detailed content. The course subject – some topics take longer to understand and require you to learn more things that are new to you. How specialised the topic is – learning about industry specific subjects can take longer because there are detailed laws and regulations that need to be covered. Training providers are required to assess the length of the course. From this, the points awarded from the CPD activity will be calculated. That’s not the end of the process – the certifying service will also check the course and its contents to confirm the points are correct. Included in the calculation of CPD points for online training will generally be: The time it should take to read and understand the course content. How long is spent watching videos or listening to a podcast. Time spent completing quizzes to check your understanding. Recording your CPD The CPD points that you earn are valuable to you in a number of ways. Your main motivation for completing CPD activities might be because you enjoy broadening your horizons, but you can derive real benefits from your CPD. Having a strong track record of CPD under your belt is good for: Demonstrating your commitment to your work and your knowledge on your CV. Bolstering your case for a pay rise or promotion at work. Gaining admittance to and retaining membership of professional bodies. Admittance to academic or further education courses in your field. How can you demonstrate your history of CPD to recruiters and employers? You need to start and maintain a CPD portfolio or logbook. Aim to record your CPD training soon after each session. This will help you give a clear evaluation of what you’ve learned and be able to measure how you use the training over time. It’ll also mean you don’t forget details like the CPD points you’ve earned. It’s not the end of the world if you do forget the exact name of your course or the points you’ve accumulated – you can always contact your training provider to confirm for you. You have two options when finding a way to source your CPD portfolio. Which one you choose will depend on the resources you have and what will work best for your future records. Hardcopy CPD portfolios Most CPD providers will send you a hardcopy certificate of your CPD training. This may be a requirement of your employer and you may also get peace of mind with having something tangible in your hands. Your CPD portfolio or logbook isn’t just about holding your certificates. You should get into the habit of logging the details of the course. Information you should be noting includes: What you expect to achieve from the CPD. Learning activities that you took part in. The actionable information you took away from the training. Your next steps after the CPD course is completed. Be sure to record the number of CPD points you have earned from each activity. You can then easily calculate your CPD points for the year and see if you need more to meet employer or membership requirements. Keep your paperwork in order with a wallet or file. You can pick up something simple and cheap from a stationery shop, or spend a few pounds more so you’ve got something that looks professional to present to your employer or future employer. How many CPD points do I need? Not every industry or employer will require CPD. Whether it’s mandatory or not, earning CPD points throughout your career is always a positive thing. Contact your professional body or regulator to check what your minimum CPD points for the year are. It’s possible that these requirements can change over time so it’s best to check. Some employers and organisations stipulate how you can earn your CPD points for the year. You might need to ensure that you achieve a mix of: Online training. Practical or in-class assessments. Academic learning. Industry seminars. Be sure to read the details and not just the headline figures!

-
How long is the course (what is the course duration)? Our two day courses (both classroom and virtual classroom) usually run from 9.30am until around 5.00pm on both days and our one day courses also 9.30am to 5.00pm. We tend to start fairly promptly on time but the finish time can vary a little depending on the number attending, the dynamics of the group and sometimes other factors. Some courses run during a morning, afternoon or evening. For these courses start times are usually: Morning - 9.30am - 12.30pm Afternoon - 2.00pm - 5.00pm Evening - 5.30pm - 8.30pm However, all timings can vary and therefore please refer to your booking confirmation for more precise times or call us on 01525 713377 to check the start times for any courses that you are interested in.
-
I am attending a classroom course. Will there be parking at the venue? Most of our training venues have parking on-site although in some cases the venue may have a "Parking Eye" enforcement camera. Ensure, if you are arriving by car, that you have entered your car registration at the reception desk to avoid any parking enforcement notices later. Wherever possible we try to position our training venues close to public transport links and therefore you should have easy access by bus or train for many venues.
-
When does the course start and finish? How many breaks will I get?Our full day classroom and virtual classroom courses usually start at 9.30am. Our shorter classroom and virtual classroom courses generally run over one morning, one afternoon or an evening, starting at 9.30am, 2.00pm or 6.00pm. However these times can vary and therefore please ensure that you check your booking confirmation carefully before attending or joining a virtual session. In the classroom (full day courses) we will have a morning and afternoon break of around 15 minutes, and a lunchtime break of usually 45-60 minutes. Please note that end of day timings are approximate and may over or under-run by up to 30 minutes. In our virtual classroom sessions timings for breaks are very flexible and your tutor will be able to adapt to everyone's break requirements. There will also be scheduled breaks throughout.
-
Will I be expected to take notes? We recommend that you take notes as you work through the course although this is not essential and entirely up to you. It may help you, however, when you complete the multiple-choice quizzes (at the end of most modules). Your course is supported with a number of information sheets and other resource material which your tutor will hand out during the classroom course and for you to keep. The same information is available for you to download when you attend our virtual classroom courses.
-
I booked a course. When will I receive a booking confirmation? When you book a course online you will receive two email confirmations - one automated email from your credit or debit card company and one from our booking platform. If you have not received either of these then there is a possibility that these emails may have either been diverted into your "junk/spam" folder, or that you have inadvertently mis-spelt your email address during the booking process. If you have received one, but not the other, then the missing email is almost certainly sitting in your spam folder. This frequently happens with "free" email accounts such as Hotmail and G-mail accounts. If, after checking your spam/junk folder, you still cannot find your booking confirmation, or would like a replacement email sent, please call us on 01525 7113377 or email info@geopace.net If you have booked by telephone then your booking confirmation will be sent to you usually same same, but within 1-2 working days.
-

What do I do now?If you are able to give us more than 21 days notice then you can transfer your booking to any other course date and/or location, subject to availability. A nominal transfer fee applies. If you are giving us less than 21 days notice then we can transfer your booking if you have a medical event or medical emergency preventing you from attending. For full details please see our Terms & Conditions
-
How do I find information on my classroom course location?Classroom training locations will be included within your Booking Confirmation. Please call us if you would like more information or to clarify the exact location.
-
What should I wear in the classroom? As our courses are run in a relaxed atmosphere, it is fine just to wear something you are comfortable in, Jeans and a T-shirt are perfectly acceptable. If you are attending a phlebotomy training course it can be useful to wear something loose on the arms, to enable you to roll a sleeve for practicing with a tourniquet, and for Route to Competency – Live Blood Draw Sessions. For footwear we ask that you wear closed topped shoes, rather than sandals and similar footwear as you will be working with needles throughout the day and is good practice due to and health and safety requirements.
-
Will I need to sit an exam?None of our courses have exams! You will therefore not be expected to sit any formal examinations. Most of our courses do have multiple choice questions at the end of each module, which you will complete as you progress through the course online or in the classroom. These multiple choice Q&As and the supplementary support material is designed to help you gain the points needed to pass the course.
-

When you arrive your tutor will brief you on all facilities and you are, of course, free to take "comfort breaks" whenever you wish. Some classroom courses are half-day, either morning, afternoon or evening. These are quite informal and you may choose to help yourself to refreshments or take breaks at any time. In the virtual classroom: You tutor will expect that you will want to take breaks at times that might suit you, and for full day courses there will be a set break around mid-day. Your tutor will go through this when you first log in.

This is designed to give you a thorough background in the theory element of the subject and provides you with a solid base to learn in your practical sessions. Not all courses include online learning, but all our students will have access to an online learning platform. This will include handouts and support material that can be downloaded and, when you have completed your course(s) will include digital copies of your certificates.

Our Learning Management System is hosted by TalentLMS - a universal learning platform that will enable you to access your online course material on almost any device such as smartphone, tablet, kindle, laptop and desktop computer. Once your course or courses are assigned to you an email will be sent to you for each course will log-in instructions. All your courses will be contained within one log-in area. On initial registration you will be invited to create a password. If you forget this you can request a password re-set at any time. You can access, via the link sent to you, on any device but we would recommend you also download the TalentLMS app if you are predominantly using a smartphone. For Android devices download the TalentLMS app from the Google Play Store. For Apple devices download the TalentLMS app from the App Store.
