ROUTE TO COMPETENCY MASTERCLASS - LIVE BLOOD SESSIONS

CLASSROOM - 2-3 hours

Geopace Certificate of Competency

  • Add live blood draws to your training

  • Follow and complete a Competency Checklist

  • Obtain tutor sign-off for live draws

  • Awards a CPD Accredited Certificate

  • Awards a Geopace Certificate of Competency

  • Half day or evening sessions

AVAILABLE ONLY TO APPLICANTS WHO HAVE ENROLLED ON (OR HAVE PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED) OUR INTRODUCTION TO PHLEBOTOMY COURSE

Please note:

All attendees will need to consent to having blood drawn as well as drawing blood from fellow students

Classroom - Most sessions run for 2-3 hours immediately after our Introduction to Phlebotomy Course (selected locations only)

​

Pre-competency practise sessions - Additional blood draw experience on artificial arms (as required)

​

Confidence building - experience live blood draws before direct patient contact

​

Certification - Geopace Certificate of Competency

​

Skills for Health (HSC376) & WHO compliant

Consolidate skills developed drawing blood from artificial arms

​

Consolidate all theory covered in Introduction to Phlebotomy Course and put into practice

​

"Patient" interaction with fellow session attendees - role play

​

Fully 1-to-1 monitored throughout

​

Enable a full competent draw following through a 28 point competency checklist

​

Further live blood draws as required

Add a Geopace Certificate of Competency to your CV

​

Attend job interviews in the knowledge that you have completed both accredited course AND live blood draws

​

Continue to perform venepuncture in a healthcare setting

 

Approach patients with confidence and with prior experience

​

Appreciate the difference between artificial arm blood draws and live blood draws
